Puglia
Discovering "another Italy"

Popular culture and traditions

Francesca Di leso - Canto Antico

Our travel in Italy starts from the South: the heel of our beautiful boot. Puglia (Apulia) is a region rich in history, but still very much unexplored. We will guide you through the ravines, the bauxite lakes, the rock churches, the Roman and Greek archaeological remains, the mosaics, the Byzantine frescoes, the Aragonese path and the Templars treasures.

If you are planning to organize a trip to Alberobello because you have watched the Disney cartoon Trulli Tales … or to Salento to take a dip in the renowned “Maldives Gallipoline” sea, get ready for something else! Puglia is a discovery just waiting to be yours and we can assure you that you will want to come back again and again!

We at Motibarna tours recommend you to travel through Puglia during the off season. Why?

July and August are very warm months and not suitable for trekking and excursions.
Moreover, during these months, especially Salento, you could stumble across huge waves of domestic tourism. That means everything gets crowded and conjested as local Italian tourist flock to experience the beauty of Puglia. We therefore advise you to leave from April to June or September/October, if you want to take advantage of the sea. Otherwise the weather is mild all the year round.

Several European companies daily fly to our main airports of Bari and Brindisi. So let’s start to explore the offers!

For transportation it depends on whether you prefer to explore the scenery yourself via car rental or travel as the locals do and use the trains and busses.

When using local transport it is also important to remember that Italian is the language of communication and without basic Italian knowledge traveling can become difficult.

If you want to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the nature and culture that makes Puglia one of the most amazing regions in Italy, do not hesitate to take a look at our packages or to contact us. It will be our pleasure to help you design a tailor-made trip!

On our website we promote cultural itineraries (far better than those average ‘classic – cookie cutter tour group’ offers and tours) warm and welcoming eco-friendly hotels or B&B’s, typical dishes and of course… many of our excellent local wines!

Our network and indepth knowledge of the territory is our strong point as tour operators. Every month, on this page, you will also find new proposals and travel tips: from overnight stays to guided tours, how to do the Pizzica (the typical dancing), even some home cooking courses for those foodies out there!

If you want to know more about Puglia, don’t hesitate to contact us. We wish you the very best trip!
